The Montego's interior space is class-leading in nearly all aspects, according to the automaker, with best-in-class headroom and knee room for back-seat passengers. The interior has a unique theme that includes contrasting metallic surfaces such as satin chrome trim and chrome trim rings on the dash, with a two-tone treatment. Outside, distinctive high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights and LED taillamps are standard on all Montegos.
Cargo space is also a strength; it's larger than nearly all other sedans the Montego's size. The already cavernous 21.2-cubic-foot trunk can be expanded by folding the split-fold rear seatback forward to yield 49.9 inches of total load-floor length, and the front passenger seat can also fold forward flat for up to nine feet of total cargo length.
Front seat-mounted air bags are now standard, as are side curtain air bags with rollover protection, which protects front and rear outward occupants. Anti-lock brakes are also standard.
Two different trim levels are available. The Base model (only offered in front-wheel drive) comes with standard fog lamps, heated power exterior mirrors, dual automatic climate control, a CD sound system with steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, a power driver's seat, and power windows, mirrors, and locks. Upgrades on the Premier model include larger, 18-inch alloy wheels, perimeter lighting, memory power leather seats (heated in front), adjustable pedals, leather steering wheel and shift knob trim, an overhead console with garage door opener, wood-grain trim, an audiophile sound system with subwoofer and six-CD changer, and a cargo net.
Top options on the Montego include a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, Sirius satellite radio, and a navigation system for the Premier model.
